Catholic Relief Services is a BBB accredited charity and through its partnership with Caritas Internationals, this charity is already on the ground and operational in Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, and Moldova. With 92% of all funds going directly to their programs, Catholic Relief Services only retains 4% for admin and another 4% for fundraising (according to their website and the BBB). Well, brake fluid, also called hydraulic fluid, is a liquid chemical solution that pumps through your hydraulic braking system when you press down on the break. The fluid amplifies the force you use to press down and uses it to apply pressure onto your car’s brakes, allowing you to come to a complete stop with minimal exertion on your part. Braking fluid has to have a high boiling point because friction from the brake pads can create a lot of heat and threaten to evaporate surrounding liquids into gas, decreasing hydraulic pressure and your ability to effectively brake. You also have to be wary of your brake fluid’s viscosity as it needs to remain constant across wide ranges of temperature to properly relay the right amount of pressure to your brakes. It’s the season of dropping temperatures and snowy conditions. This means you need to treat your vehicle to some TLC to ensure you’re getting the most out of your vehicle. Swap out regular tires for winter tires. Snow or not, when temperatures fall below 45 degrees, winter tires are recommended. They're made to give you better traction while turning or stopping on cold pavement. Check your tire pressure weekly. Driving on underinflated tires can cause them to wear down prematurely and lose traction on icy or slippery surfaces. Your tires lose a pound of pressure with every 10-degree drop in temperature. Always keep your fuel tank half full. During winter weather, it's important to keep at least half a tank of fuel in the vehicle in the event of an emergency or if you get stuck in the snow and wait for assistance. Pack an emergency to-go kit. We encourage you to keep an extra coat, blanket, boots, gloves, and a hat inside your vehicle when the temperatures drop. We also recommend keeping a flashlight, first aid kit, and emergency contact information or AAA handy. Protect your windshield wipers. If you park outdoors, leave the wipers in the raised position to prevent them from freezing to the windshield.
