With rising gas prices and more focus on environmentally friendly vehicles, the popularity of the large SUV has several diminished the past few years, until recently. Gas prices are low and people are beginning to shift their attention back to this powerful, beastly vehicles. The new 2017 Nissan Armada is making a comeback and drew a lot of attention when it was revealed at the Chicago Auto Show. The 390 horsepower 5.6-liter V8 engine is “shockingly quiet” and if you opt for the 4X4 version, it can tow up to 8,500 pounds. Nick Jaynes, an automotive writer at Mashable, reviewed the new SUV, commenting that the “fleet of warships” name was rather appropriate and the 2016 Armada is going to “bring a bit of attitude” back to the full sized SUV family. Sometimes a drive is much more enjoyable when you can soak up new scenery, visit a place you've never been, and do it with the people you love. Whiteface Veteran's Memorial Highway Starting in Wilmington, State Route 431, also known as the Whiteface Veteran's Memorial Highway, winds for only about eight miles, but the short journey is well worth it. Along this road, you'll climb to nearly 5,000 feet, with nine different points offering scenic lookouts of the nearby Adirondacks. At the top, there's a spectacular 360-degree view that's unbeatable. Thousand Islands Seaway Located along the St. Lawrence River, the Thousand Islands Seaway is a long trip for one day, but taking it bit by bit is the best method to see it all. Eventually, you'll end up at Niagara Falls, which if you haven't seen it, is one of the most majestic sights in the world. U.S. Route 20 Believe it or not, U.S. Route 20, which extends from Buffalo to Albany, is the longest federal highway in America. Along this east-west road, you'll see the places that started expansion into the west. Visit some of the quaint towns for a meal, or see some of the bizarre attractions like life-size dinosaurs or a giant tepee. Regardless of which of these roads you take, you'll get to see something not normally viewed by many people. So, the next time you're in the mood, check out one of these scenic byways. The world’s best-selling electric car, the Nissan LEAF is continuing to earn praise as it snags the best Non-Luxury Traditional Compact Car award for the second year in a row. This award was given at the 20th Annual IHS Automotive Loyalty Awards. These awards acknowledge automotive brands for customer retention during the 2015 model year. Nissan is very proud of this recognition. A total of 97,220 vehicle were sold by the Nissan Division in January which is not only a new record for January sales, but it is also a 3 percent increase over last year. Along with the record-breaking overall increase the brand has also reported notable increases for a number of the models in its lineup. The road trip is one of the most fun and engaging activities for families and friends alike. However, it's not just the drive that makes the experience; it's where you stop along the way. If you're traveling through New York, check out a few of these memorable, yet bizarre places to visit. House of Frankenstein Wax Museum Located in Lake George, just on the edge of the Adirondacks, is the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum. While wax museums are fairly common, this one has 52 exhibits, each featuring a wax dummy being tortured. It's a bit sadistic, but definitely worth a viewing. Tickets are $9.30 for adults and $4.65 for kids under 12. Atomic Buddha Statue It's presumed that a drive through New York City is troublesome with the traffic, but weird sights here are plentiful. One such place is the Atomic Buddha Statue, situated just outside a Buddhist temple on Riverside Drive. The weird part is that this statue is actually radioactive, as it came from Hiroshima after the nuclear bomb of 1945. Scary Lucy This statue is as an homage to the late Lucille Ball. However, most visitors claim that it has no resemblance to the TV star whatsoever. Her facial features are also a bit bizarre, giving it the current moniker of Scary Lucy. Currently, there's a petition to remove it from the town of Celeron, so try to see it before it's too late. MotorWeek is nearing the end of their year-long test drive in the 2015 Nissan Murano. They just recently released their 4th quarter update on this model and as it stands it seems to be so far so good as far as they are concerned. The New York State Museum currently has the exhibition The Coast & The Sea: Marine and Maritime Art in America now on display through February 21, 2016. The Coast & The Sea collection features more than 50 paintings created between the years of 1750 to 1904. The exhibit also features many artifacts from the New York Historical Society’s collection of maritime artifacts. Visitors can learn more about historical events through the art work and artifacts on display. The New York State Museum is located at 260 Madison Avenue in Albany NY. Admission is free for visitors and donations are accepted upon entry. The museum is closed on Mondays and open 9:30 am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Sunday. A museum gift shop is located on the premises for all your souvenirs. The museum carousel is open from 10am to 4:30pm and operates typically every 15 minutes. Other exhibits on display at the museum now include The Shakers: America’s Quiet Revolutionaries, Represent: Contemporary Native American Art, and St. Paul’s Chapel: A Place of Refuge. The museum also offers several programs through the year include an open house at an archeological site, family fun day on the third Saturday of the month, and school holiday vacation programs for kids. Memberships are not being offered at this time but volunteer opportunities are available.

A new advertisement called “The Package” has been released by Nissan featuring the all-new 2016 Nissan Altima. This new spot highlights several of the impressive capabilities of this stylish sedan and a few of its top technologies including a touchscreen display and push button start all while providing a number of shots that show off the sleek design of the 2016 Altima. In this new advertisement we see a man heading out in his Altima on what appears to be a secret mission as he easily navigates his way through parking garages and busy city streets at night. The “No Charge to Charge” program for the Nissan LEAF has officially been included in three more U.S. cities. This new program has now officially arrived in Santa Barbara, Philadelphia, and right here in New York.
