We are officially in the LAST week before Christmas and because of who I am as a person I have done ZERO shopping for the holidays. I have 3 DAYS to get my life together, but every time I go to target with the intention to buy gifts for my family and friends I end up finding something and thinking to myself “You know who would REALLY love this? ME.” It’s not great. So now, I have to get gifts for EVERYONE and somehow fit ALL of them into my car. The good news is that I drive the Nissan Rogue Sport, currently one of the specials at Destination Nissan.

My Rogue Sport is a somewhat magical creature in that it somehow finds a way for me to fit EVERYTHING without having to precariously perch items in my trunk and back seat. I have a lot of items and let me tell you, the storage in my Rogue. Such. Storage. Mom said it couldn’t be done, but I got all of the gifts in the car. Now I just need to race home to wrap these bad boys.

Because it is the week before Christmas all main roads are wall to wall traffic. As I am also an impatient woman, I do not have the time for such nonsense. I am about to go where few dare to go in this cold and questionable weather. BACK ROADS. After that super random day of 50 degrees this week there was some mud and sections of ice, very confusing. But did that deter me? Not even a little. My Rogue Sport can handle it. It literally has sport in the name! Backroads are no match for my magnificent Rogue. Challenge accepted.

If your procrastination game is just as strong and you need to a vehicle that can keep up, the Nissan Rogue Sport from Destination Nissan is the vehicle you need to get it all done. Your mother-in-law never has to find out just how much you procrastinated this year and isn’t that reason enough. Stop by Destination Nissan today and get your extreme holiday vehicle!

When I was a small child I was convinced that by the year 2000 we would be driving flying cars, be able to communicate with just our minds, wearing a LOT of metallic spandex, and a strong possibility of a robot revolution. Here I sit, in 2017. No flying cars (YET), we have pretty advanced cell phones, but not quite mind powered messaging, and fortunately no robot overlords. My wardrobe IS largely metallic spandex, but that’s not really a universal thing yet, give it time. Ya win some, ya lose some. So cars aren’t flying, BUT there have been some CRAZY advances in the past few years that are definitely shaping the cars of tomorrow. Today I thought it might be fun to take a look at one of the new concept vehicles Nissan has introduced this year to show what near future of driving could look like.

Today’s concept vehicle is a whole new frontier for off-roading. Literally. It’s the Nissan Frontier Attack which was introduced in June at the 2017 Buenos Aires Auto Show. This intense piece of machinery took its cue from the unfriendly terrain in Latin America, is very reminiscent of the larger than life “Monster Trucks”. Created by the Nissan Design Center in Rio de Janeiro (NDA-Rio) the vehicle has a revolutionary design and robust equipment that pickup lovers will not be able to resist!

Raised up a solid 40 mm higher than the current production version, with considerably larger roof and tires it’s no wonder its designers nicknamed it “the beast.” The Nissan Frontier Attack looks at challenging off-road terrain and laughs. The VDC (vehicle dynamic control) system helps to improve traction performance and safety on all four wheels. It continuously monitors steering and brakes, detects over steering or under steering, and reduces engine speed and/or applies the brakes to certain wheels to compensate. It electronically controls the vehicle’s traction and prevents it from skidding, overturning or losing control. The VDC system also interacts with other systems such as the anti-lock braking system that improves maneuverability in difficult situations.

The pickup also incorporates Nissan’s view of the future: Intelligent Mobility, created to guide product development and guarantee customers around the world a safer and more sustainable future. Nissan Frontier Attack Concept includes two systems that provide assistance on hills:

The HSA (Hill Start Assist) system has the facility for drivers to park the vehicle on a slope and put the vehicle into motion without the risk of moving backward. The system keeps the brakes applied for two seconds after the brake pedal is released.

The HDC (Hill Descent Control) system has the facility to control the vehicle’s speed of descent at between 4 km/h (4 x 4 low) and 7 km/h (4 x 4 high) and control the braking system so that the driver can concentrate fully on controlling the vehicle.

All in all this vehicle is sounding pretty beastly on all fronts! Hopefully, we’ll get to see this monster among trucks live in living color! The Future of Off-Roading is looking bright! In the meantime, stop by Destination Nissan today to see our current Nissan Frontier models or check out our selection of incredible trucks and SUVs!

Ok, friends. I’m gonna level with you. When I was a teenager I was a TERRIBLE driver. I was always speeding down back roads of my hometown. I was more focused on what was on the radio and how I was going to pull off singing lead vocals AND backup vocals at the same time than I was on the road. An abominable snowman could have sauntered across the road and I probably would not have noticed him. It was not safe, I see that now. I was risking not only my life, but the lives of the people around me. I was lucky and no one got hurt, but someone could have been killed. Below, you will find some helpful tips to help you to be a better and safer driver.

The Basics

  • Obey the speed limits. They are there for a reason. If you’re going 60 in a 30 you have a lot less reaction time and you’re increasing your risk of accident and serious injury.

  • Always wear your seatbelt – Honestly, your seatbelt could be the only thing standing between you and death.

  • Adjust your car’s headrest to a height behind your head – not your neck – to minimize whiplash in case you’re in an accident.

  • Make sure your windshield is clean. A stray beam of light reflecting off your dirty windshield can blind you from seeing what’s going on. Even temporary loss of vision is dangerous.

  • Experts now recommend that you hold the steering wheel at either 3 and 9 o’clock on the wheel, or even lower at 4 and 8 o’clock. If you’re in an accident and the airbags go off, you’ll be safer with your hands not flying into your face from the impact of the airbags.

Be Considerate

  • Don’t drive like you own the road. Drive like you own the car.

  • Don’t assume you know where another driver is going or what they are doing. You can only be sure of what you are doing. Turn signals will only tell you where a driver is likely to go. Always proceed with caution.

  • Watch out for aggressive drivers, and try to stay out of their way.

  • Never pull out in front of anyone or swerve into someone else’s lane.

Be Aware

  • Make sure your car always has gas in it.

  • If you’re in the country or any wooded area, watch out for deer and other animals.  If you see an animal approaching, slow down and flash your lights repeatedly. Dusk and dawn are particularly bad times for running into animals, so be on the lookout for them.

  • When the light turns green, make sure intersection clears before you go.

If you’re a parent of a new driver and you’re looking for a safe vehicle for your teen, check out the Nissan Versa Note or the Nissan Rogue, both of which were rated as top safety picks for teen drivers. Stop by Destination Nissan today to check them out!
