Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com has selected the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder as one of the “12 Best Family Cars of 2017”. This is now the fourth year in a row that this model has been included on this annual list proving that this is definitely a vehicle that was designed and built with families in mind.

Each year, KBB.com puts this list together after evaluating eligible vehicle in order to determine which models “best meet the needs of today’s families.” For the 2017 Pathfinder, editors were impressed with the 284 horsepower 3.5-liter Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) V6 Engine that provides a class-leading max towing capacity of 6,000-pounds (when properly equipped). Another standout feature noted by KBB.com include the EZ Flex Seating System™ with LATCH AND GLIDE™ which comes equipped with a second row tilt and glide seat which makes it easier to access the third row with a child safety seat installed.

“In a 3-row SUV like Pathfinder, access to the last row is critical in everyday use, both getting in and out of and negotiating around a child seat in the 2nd row,” said Dan Mohnke, vice president, Nissan Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing Operations. “Our innovative 2nd row seat system, which tilts forward with a child seat still in place1, gives Pathfinder a big advantage over other 3-row designs, even before shoppers get behind the wheel for a test drive.”

875209759_e11247c036_oAny Nissan dealership will have used Nissan vehicles for customers to consider, but not all of them are Certified Pre-Owned Nissan vehicles. That’s because they have to meet a higher standard to get that certificate, and they come with extra benefits.

The Standards

To get the Nissan Certified Pre-Owned label, a Nissan vehicle has to go through a comprehensive inspection process with 167 different points. If any part doesn’t pass, the technician will replace it with genuine Nissan OEM parts. On top of that, the vehicle can’t be more than six years old or have more than 80,000 miles on the odometer. A car that meets these standards might not be new, but it is the next best thing.

The Benefits

Aside from the fact that a Certified Pre-Owned Nissan vehicle is sure to be in great shape, car buyers also get the benefit of a strong warranty, much like the warranty that comes with a new Nissan. The Nissan CPO limited warranty lasts 7 years or 100,000 miles, and it covers the engine, the drivetrain, and the transmission, plus it also comes with 24/7 roadside assistance and trip interruption coverage. The warranty does start counting from when the car was new, but that means you’ll get at least 1 year and 20,000 miles from a free warranty.

When you buy a Certified Pre-Owned Nissan, you get a vehicle that Nissan and its dealerships guarantees is an automobile that’s in great shape despite not being new, and it stands behind that guarantee with a seven-year warranty.

IMG_3088The 2017 Nissan Armada is a strong and capable three-row SUV with plenty of space for families and the ability to handle rough terrain. It’s a truck-based vehicle that delivers on its promises of style and comfort.

Interior Styling

The cabin of the 2017 Armada looks and feels nicer than what you’ll see in the interior of similar vehicles. High-end standard features in the base model include heated and power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 13-speaker Bose audio system with Bluetooth and satellite radio, and navigation. You can also tack on a rear-seat entertainment center, heated second-row seats and a heated steering wheel, and leather upholstery.

Rugged Performance

The truck-based SUV works well if you need to tow heavy loads but don’t want to sacrifice size or comfort by driving a truck. With the proper equipment, the 2017 Armada can tow up to 8,500 pounds. You can also opt for a four-wheel drive setup, which includes hill-start assist, tow mode function, and a limited-slip differential for improved handling. Beneath its hood, you’ll find a new powerful V8 engine that puts out 390 horsepower.

Safety Features

You can also feel confident when transporting your family and friends in the 2017 Armada, since it’s available with impressive safety features. These include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking for frontal and rear collision risks, lane departure warning and intervention, blind spot monitoring, and a top-down camera system with motion detection.

If you’re shopping for an eight-seat SUV with the capabilities to keep up on your adventures, check out the newest model of the Nissan Armada.

10509596373_016781b4d1_bEvery year, Albany celebrates its Irish citizens with parades and celebrations that take place all across the city. Here are just a few:

The Parade

On the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day, the city of Albany holds a parade and a family festival. It begins with a mass at 9 a.m., and then the parade begins at 2 p.m. The festival is a new addition, and it takes place from noon to 4 p.m. in Academy Park, just across from City Hall.

Pub Crawls

On both the Saturday before and the big day itself, Albany organizes a pair of pub crawls that cross the city. You can start the crawl at any of the bars and pubs participating, at least as long as you register first and get your armband and map, but you do need to be 21 to take part. The crawls both begin at 5 p.m., and they continue up until closing time.

Collar City Kilt Fest

Over in Troy, the Saturday after St. Patrick’s Day is the day of the Collar City Kilt Fest. The festival includes a 5k run (kilt optional), a costume contest, and a pub crawl on a chartered bus. To get the full experience, make sure you buy a City Pass for access to the Kilt Crawl, discounts, and beer tastings.

St. Patrick’s Day is a great time to celebrate whether you’re Irish or not. And while it helps to be 21 or older, even kids can have fun when the time comes to honor the Irish saint.

5720305968_303fa7268a_bTacos are a popular menu item in Mexican restaurants, and Albany has a variety of places where you can get them. Here are some of the tastiest tacos in the Albany area.

Drunken Shrimp Scampi Taco

You’ll get a modern take on classic street food at Ama Cocina. Their drunken-shrimp “scampi” tacos have the flavors of tequila and chipotles, and they serve them with shredded cabbage and scallions.

Grasshopper and Beef Tongue

Head to Oaxaquena Triqui for tacos whether you want lunch or dinner. If you are up for trying something new and have a sense of adventure, they have grasshopper tacos and cow tongue tacos. While exotic tastes like this are not for everyone, this place sells them like hotcakes. For a more traditional meal, their carnitas tacos have loads of flavor, and they serve them with onions and cilantro in a soft tortilla.

Authentic Steak Tacos

Head to El Patron Mexican Grill & Cantina on Central Ave for a huge variety of tacos, but make sure to try The also serve an authentic steak taco with chopped steak, onion, and cilantro. This is garnished with lime and radish and served on a soft corn tortilla. You can also try the soft carnitas taco or the Baja tacos.

If you are in the mood for some delicious tacos, make sure to head to one of the local Albany restaurants. You can try something new or stick to the tried and true Mexican flavors.

13173989155_0e6176c8f2_bTechnically, you could spend your entire car-owning life without visiting a dealership. However, while a dealership can’t offer any unique services, there are plenty of reasons to rely on a dealership instead of someone else.

Buy a Car

Buying a car is obviously what a dealership is there for, but you can also buy cars online, through a classified ad, or through a friend. However, unlike most friends and private sellers, dealerships have the advantage of having a full service shop full of trained professionals who need to stick to a certain minimum standard. Used cars sold through a dealership are usually in much better shape than ones sold privately because of this. On top of that, a dealership is the only place where you can buy or lease a new car.

Service and Repair Your Vehicle

The things you have to do regularly for a car, like replace the oil and other fluids, swap out the wiper blades, put in a new air filter, and replace the battery, are all easy to do by design. Not everybody has the time, tools, and space to learn how to do these things, but you can find plenty of shops, garages, and neighbors who do. What makes dealerships stand out are the OEM parts with nationwide warranties, the factory training the mechanics usually get with the dealership’s vehicles, and the high-tech tools that fill the service garages.

You don’t have to go to a dealership, but there are plenty of reasons you should anyway.
