Customers from all over Albany, Schenectady, Latham, Saratoga, and Clifton Park, NY have been loving the redesigned 2017 Nissan Rogue, which recently set an all-time U.S. single month sales record. Now, Rogue fans have even more to be excited about, as Nissan just debuted the new 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport at the North American International Auto Show.

The Rogue Sport has a 2.3 inch shorter wheelbase and is 12.1 inches shorter in length, to make navigating city traffic and maneuvering tight city streets a breeze. It’s also offered with a 2.0L DOHC Four-Cylinder Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG™) System Engine, paired with the Xtronic Transmission. It also includes many of the things customers love about the Rogue, like available Nissan Intelligent Safety Shield technologies.

“The new Rogue Sport is a perfect addition to the red hot Rogue lineup, which is also adding a first-ever Rogue Hybrid model for 2017,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. “With Rogue Sport’s slightly smaller dimensions and sporty maneuverability, it’s ideal for singles or couples without kids – or empty nesters – who want a sportier vehicle and can live with a little less cargo capacity than the current Rogue offers.”

The 2017 Nissan Rogue Sport is due to arrive here in Spring 2017. Keep up with the Destination Nissan blog for all the details!

In the beginning of 2016, Nissan made an announcement that this year would be the “Year of the Truck,” celebrating Nissan’s truck lineup which includes the new TITAN, Pathfinder, Armada, and Rogue. And what better way to finish out the year and start the next than by snagging the Truck Trend 2017 Pickup Truck of the Year!  A distinguished group of truck experts from Truck Trends spent a week testing performance, towing, hauling, fuel-efficiency, and off-roading. This year, the panel chose the all-new 2017 Nissan TITAN over seven competitors.

“With the launch of the 2017 TITAN, Nissan has set out to redefine themselves as a force in the pickup market,” said TRUCK TREND editor Jason Gonderman. “By combining a richly appointed interior and deep feature set with a stout drivetrain and respectable capabilities, Nissan has reemerged as a player in the half-ton pickup market. Combined with an industry best 5-year/100,000-mile warranty and low cost of entry compared to the competition, Nissan looks to have found the winning combination with the all-new TITAN.”

2017 is in full swing! You’re eating right, you’re hitting the gym, you’re feeling good. But if you’re looking for a more fulfilling resolution that will help not only yourself but others, consider one of our seven car-safe resolutions below!

  • Change a Tire: This is an important life skill that will be useful when you’re in a pinch. Practice changing a tire at home so you’re prepared in the event of a flat tire or blowout.
  • Buckle Up: The facts are simple. Seat belts help prevent death and injury in car accidents by a whopping 50 percent. Yet people are still neglecting to use them. This year, enforce a strict seatbelt policy in your vehicle and make sure everyone — no matter how big or small, no matter where they’re sitting, no matter how far you’re traveling — is wearing their seatbelt.
  • Be Prepared: Preparing for a fatal accident may seem morbid or extreme, but life is unpredictable. If you ever find yourself in an accident where you are unable to exit your vehicle, you’ll be thankful you made a resolution to invest in auto escape tools like a seatbelt cutter and glass-shattering hammer!
  • End Drinking and Driving: Drinking and driving statistics have improved dramatically over the past 30 years, but there’s still work to do. Every single day, 36 people are killed and another 700 are injured from alcohol-related incidents. Just because you’re not driving while intoxicated doesn’t mean you’ve done everything you can. Make sure others are getting home soberly and safely, and offer to help if you see someone at risk.
  • Consider Safety Rating: Safety isn’t exactly “sexy,” and that’s why it often gets left behind when people are considering which vehicle to purchase. This year, when you’re buying you New Nissan Vehicle at Destination Nissan, take a look at our safety features and ratings. Don’t worry, you won’t have to sacrifice style, performance, or technology!
  • No More Distracted Driving: Distracted driving continues to be huge issue. In 2014, the U.S. Department of Transportation reported that over 431,000 injuries and 3,179 fatalities were because of distracted driving incidents. Make a conscious effort to eliminate distracting things like texting, eating, or applying makeup while driving.
  • Fill Up Your Tank: Running on empty is stressful, bad for your engine, and could result in you being stranded somewhere! This year, resolve to watch your gas gauge like a hawk to ensure you never find yourself in this predicament again.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently released their annual list of Top Safety Pick vehicles and three 2017 Nissan vehicles were chosen for the “Top Safety Pick+” designation, which is the highest rating a vehicle can possibly receive. The 2017 Nissan Altima, 2017 Nissan Maxima, and 2017 Nissan Rogue were chosen as Top Safety Picks after scoring with at least a “good” rating in each of the five crashworthiness tests. They earned their “Plus” status by achieving an “advanced” or “superior” rating for front crash protection and having the available Forward Emergency Braking.

“Nissan is proud to have many of our North American-built vehicles recognized by IIHS for vehicle safety,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Strategy and Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA). “As a full-line manufacturer, Nissan places the safety and security of Nissan vehicle owners and their passengers as its top priority. Considering that 85-percent of the vehicles we sell in the U.S. are assembled in North America, we are gratified to see the company’s long-term investment in safety yielding results in these key vehicles receiving high marks from IIHS.”

All three of these Nissan vehicles are available for test drive at Destination Nissan! Stop by and see us today.
