3106162685_86fe4e1950_bThe 2016 Nissan Frontier pickup truck is fun to drive both on and off the road. It has a strong V6 engine that gets it up and going, and it has the power to pull up to 6,500 pounds. If you are looking for comfort and convenience, here is what you’ll like about the Frontier.

Steering Wheel-Mounted Controls

You don’t need to take your eyes off the road and lean over to adjust the stereo in the 2016 Frontier. It has steering wheel-mounted remote controls, so you can adjust the volume or change the radio station with just the touch of a finger while your hands stay on the wheel.

Storage

The inside of the 2016 Frontier offers owners plenty of storage options. There is a storage bin under the rear seat that you can remove when you don’t need it. Just flip up the back seats to get to it. The floor is also flat, so you can use it as extra storage space when you need it.

NissanConnect

The Frontier comes equipped with Nissan’s infotainment system. NissanConnect has an interface similar to a smartphone, and it comes with a full suite of apps you can use with both iPhones and Androids. You can also choose to get navigation capabilities with NissanConnect. The system is easy to use and has an intuitive interface.

Nissan designed the 2016 Frontier for those who like the midsize pickup and want to ride comfortably while enjoying the latest technology.

Earlier this year, we were thrilled to hear that by 2020, Nissan plans to release 10 fully autonomous vehicles for sale. The automaker has introduced its first Level 2 system called ProPILOT and will first be released in the new Serena minivan in the Japanese market.

ProPILOT includes a camera that identifies the lane that you’re driving in and helps keep the car in the center of it. It also includes STOP&GO which will allow the car to stay with the rhythm of traffic, allowing you to take in and enjoy the full trip. Check out the video below to seem more of this innovative technology.

So far, most electric vehicle designs from Nissan have been pretty mild. The thought behind this was, a new technology such as an EV will take time for consumers to adapt to. So, including what they’re used to, four in-line wheels, four doors, four seats and a steering wheel in front of the driver, might make the transition a bit easier.

Well, Nissan must think that we’re ready for a more daring design. In Rio de Janeiro they unveiled their newest working prototype EV, the BladeGlider. And let’s just say, this isn’t your parent’s EV.

Powered by a lithium-ion battery which runs two motors to provide power to the rear wheels, the BladeGlider EV can go from 0 to 62 mph in just under 5 seconds and reach a top speed of 115 mph.

shutterstock_286615691One of the biggest reasons why people in the market for a new vehicle have not considered an electric car is because of “Range Anxiety”. Range Anxiety is an overwhelming feeling that the driver of an electric car experiences while driving. The concern is about reaching their destination or a charging station before the battery dies.

For a long time, this was a reasonable issue. How many times can you tell your boss you were late because your car died? Or how terrible would it be to only get half way home with the groceries? Plain and simple, these scenarios would be inconvenient. But, according to a new study done by Jessika Trancik and her colleagues at MIT, this concern it now a moot point.

According to the study, the electric vehicles on lots today, like those at Destination Nissan, can handle about 90 percent of all car travel in the U.S. In addition to that, currently available electric cars could replace 87 percent of the personal vehicles and everyone would have no issues getting to and from their destinations.

“It’s taking the approach of empowering people with information, which often today they don’t have,” Trancik says. “These changes can happen from the ground. And I think the area of personal transportation is just so exciting for that reason, because private citizens can really make a difference today.”

If you now find that you’ve been rid of your Range Anxiety, stop by Destination Nissan for a test drive in a beautiful new LEAF!

Labor Day-2

Happy Labor Day from the everyone here at Destination Nissan! Enjoy your holiday and we’ll see you here at 770 Central Ave in Albany soon!

Would you ever drive with your eyes closed for the length of a football field? How about with your closest loved ones as passengers? You may be surprised to learn that, even if you answered no, you’ve probably already done this since texting while driving for just five seconds, at a speed of 55 MPH is the equivalent. In the hopes of keeping our Destination Nissan customers safe, we’ve created a list of a few ways to keep your eyes on the road and off your phone.

  • Start off by silencing your phone. If you hear a ring or buzz while on the road, you may be tempted to reach for your phone. Remove that temptation all together from the get go.
  • Take the next step by putting the phone somewhere that you can’t easily reach. Try the glove box, even lock it if you have to, or in your bag in the back seat.
  • Use a designated texter when you have someone in the car with you. You won’t have to go off the grid when you’re in the car if you have someone else responding for you.
  • Finally, if you really have to use your phone, pull over. We would prefer you not use the shoulder of the highway since they can be dangerous, but anything is better than texting and driving!

At the beginning of this year, Nissan declared that this would be the “Year of the Truck” and proved it with a whole new set of features and improvements to the Nissan TITAN lineup for the 2017 model year. For starters, the diesel and gasoline-powered TITAN V8 vehicles and all of the gasoline-powered TITAN XD vehicles will be covered by “America’s Best Truck Warranty”*! The coverage will extend to both 4×4 and 4×2 models and in Crew or Single Cab and it includes 5-years/100,000-miles bumper-to-bumper coverage, basic coverage, and powertrain coverage.

“Nissan Commercial Vehicle models have experienced remarkable longevity, with some registering more than 500,000+ miles of relatively wear-free service**,” said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc.. “We think that extending the same coverage to our full-size pickups, whether used for personal or commercial use, is a game changer in the segment.”

In addition to the warranty coverage, Nissan has announced that the new Single Cab configuration will be released sometime this fall and then a new King Cab version will follow sometime after that. Look out for the release of both the 2017 Nissan TITAN & TITAN XD and their official arrival here at Destination Nissan!

shutterstock_145140496When taking a test drive, it’s not just about getting the chance to drive the new car you’ve had your eye on. You need to make sure that the vehicle can comfortably fit into your life and that it meets your daily needs. Before you come into Destination Nissan for a test drive in one of our new models, there are a few things you should keep in mind.

First, bring along everything you need for your average day of running around. Cell phone, chargers, car seats and strollers are all things that you should make sure fit in the vehicle and fit safely. Even something as simple as your favorite travel mug can be annoying if it doesn’t fit in your cup holders properly. Bring them in and your sales associate will be happy to help you!

Second, test out everything. The AC, visors, Bluetooth, navigation, and seat adjustments. Get everything to your liking to make sure you’ll be comfortable on every drive.

Lastly, take multiple test drives at different times of day and on different types of roads. This will let you see if you like how the car drives at night and see if it gets a little too noisy on the highway. You’ll also be able to check out the acceleration, blind spots, and the headlights.

Keep all these things in mind and you’ll drive off the Destination Nissan lot in the perfect vehicle for you! Of course, our entire sales team will be there to help too!
