It’s rare that we get time to sit back, relax and wait in today’s instant everything, “need it done yesterday” and working 25/8 world. However, Nissan LEAF owners know that when driving an EV, they need to be charged. Non-EV-drivers tend to get curious about this and ask questions like, “How often do you need to charge it?” and “How long does it take to get to a full charge?”. What they ask less frequently is, “What do you do while it charges?”. Truth is, it’s nice to get some things done, or just relax while waiting for the battery to get to full power. Not sure how to pass the time? Try one or more of these options!

  1. Get your Workout In– A lot of EV charging stations are located near parks or other great areas for a walk or run. If it’s nice enough you could even bring a mat and do yoga.
  2. Try Something New– If there’s a restaurant you’ve never been to or an attraction by your EV station, check it out! The time will pass quickly and when you’re done, your LEAF will be ready to go.
  3. Work- This is the perfect get away to get a little extra done. Take advantage of being somewhat off the grid and get your work life organized. Answer e-mails, make plans or brainstorm new ideas.
  4. Shop– Get everything you need for dinner while you wait. Or, there’s probably a new outfit you need for that summer party that’s coming up!
  5. Read– With no distractions and limited noise, you’ll be able to get a few chapters in and then get on the road.

DNIS-WALK4HOSPICE- 472X394

Hospice is a special healthcare option for patients, and their families, who are faced with terminal illnesses. A team of physicians, nurses, aides, social workers, bereavement counselors, and volunteers work together to provide comfort to the individual. Destination Nissan knows that this is not an easy job, but one that brings comfort and some stability at such a chaotic time. That’s why we’re proud to sponsor Walk For Hospice ‘16.

The walk will begin at Siena College on Saturday, June 18th. Registration will begin at 9am, the walk will commence at 10:30 and lunch will be served at 11:30. Come to honor and celebrate the memory of a loved one and to make a difference in the lives of seriously ill people. You can also register today at WALK4HOSPICE.ORG.

If you ever have $150,000 to burn, there’s probably no better purchase than the Nissan GT-R Nismo. Recently, the GT-R Nismo set numerous records for speed and drifting, making it one the best and most surprising sports cars to grace the road. Here’s just some of the features and specs of this record-setting Nissan.

Speed Record

At the famed Nurburgring race track, the Nismo holds the fifth-best time on the 12.9-mile track, doing a lap in just seven minutes, eight seconds. Only more expensive super cars have been able to outperform the Nismo on this track. In 2016, the Nismo set a record somewhere in the Middle East. Although an official announcement has yet to be released, Nissan says that it’s one of the fastest land time ever recorded.

Engine Specs

Unlike other supercars on the market, the Nismo relies on a much smaller engine to achieve the same result. Under the hood, the Nismo sports a 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 engine, capable of a whopping 600-horsepower and up to 481 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, the Nismo goes from zero-to-60 in a blazing 2.9 seconds, while also achieving a top speed of 191 miles per hour (mph).

N-Attack Package

The most insane thing about the Nismo is that it’s able to go even faster when properly equipped. By adding the N-Attack Package, the car benefits from improved aerodynamics, a finely-tuned suspension, and racing seats. With this added gear, there’s no telling what the Nismo can do.

While the 2017 GT-R Nismo’s specs haven’t been released, expect them to take the GT-R to another level. This new record is almost certainly not the last the Nismo will set.

With so much information available about buying a new car, it can get confusing especially with some of the myths that go around.

Debunking New Car Purchasing Myths

  1. Rainy days mean dealerships are waiting to make deals. This is just wishful thinking, and everyone else who believes it will also be at the dealership, umbrellas in hand.
  2. If you hide your trade-in until you seal the deal on a selling price, then the salesperson is locked in regardless of the condition of your trade-in. Not true. It’s best to do research ahead of time and find out the estimated trade-in value of your car, and then you’ll know if the salesperson is offering a fair price.
  3. Don’t let the salesperson know you plan to lease. Again, not true. There are too many lease options and deals available that can get you the type of deal you’re looking for.
  4. Paying cash will get you a discounted price. This is not in the best interest of the dealership, so the dealer will be less motivated if you flash your cash.
  5. If the salesperson offers a lower price or terms with a lower payment it means you got the best deal in town. No. you may end up paying more money over a longer period.
  6. If you don’t take the offer, it won’t ever be available again. Not true. In most cases, you can get a similar deal later.

At the end of the day, purchase a new car with the best possible overall deal. If the car isn’t what you want, try another dealership.

As you already know, Albany is the capital of New York, but yet it’s so much more. From its storied history to modern-day achievements, Albany is perhaps one of the most interesting cities that nobody knows much about. If you’ve ever wondered about the quirky or lesser known aspects of the city, here are a few interesting tidbits to put your curiosity to rest.

1. College of St. Rose Alumni

While you might not have heard of Albany’s College of St. Rose, it boasts several very famous attendees. The list of notable alumni includes Elizabeth O’Connor Little, who is a New York state senator, and Jimmy Fallon, who is the current host of NBC’s “The Tonight Show.”

2. The Theodore Roosevelt Workout

As the 26th President of the United States, Teddy Roosevelt is most remembered for having a big personality and making great achievements in his tenure at the helm of the country. However, few people know that he was the governor of New York from 1899 to 1900. It’s noted that he used to run the steps of the capitol building for his morning workout, and he would only grant interviews to journalists that could beat him to the top.

3. Modernized Toilet Paper

Believe it or not, modernized, tear-away, perforated toilet paper was actually invented in Albany. In 1871, Seth Wheeler patented the time-saving product that’s easy to tear and fits conveniently on a roll.

Albany is more than just the capital of New York. It’s a vibrant city full of culture, art, and just a few bizarre factoids.
