The road trip is one of the most fun and engaging activities for families and friends alike. However, it’s not just the drive that makes the experience; it’s where you stop along the way. If you’re traveling through New York, check out a few of these memorable, yet bizarre places to visit.
House of Frankenstein Wax Museum
Located in Lake George, just on the edge of the Adirondacks, is the House of Frankenstein Wax Museum. While wax museums are fairly common, this one has 52 exhibits, each featuring a wax dummy being tortured. It’s a bit sadistic, but definitely worth a viewing. Tickets are $9.30 for adults and $4.65 for kids under 12.
Atomic Buddha Statue
It’s presumed that a drive through New York City is troublesome with the traffic, but weird sights here are plentiful. One such place is the Atomic Buddha Statue, situated just outside a Buddhist temple on Riverside Drive. The weird part is that this statue is actually radioactive, as it came from Hiroshima after the nuclear bomb of 1945.
Scary Lucy
This statue is as an homage to the late Lucille Ball. However, most visitors claim that it has no resemblance to the TV star whatsoever. Her facial features are also a bit bizarre, giving it the current moniker of Scary Lucy. Currently, there’s a petition to remove it from the town of Celeron, so try to see it before it’s too late.
While it’s probably not possible to visit these attractions in one trip, they should find their way onto your bucket list. Each are well worth a visit.

Nissan now officially has three models from their 2016 lineup that have earned the highest-possible Top Safety Pick + rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The IIHS had already announce that the 2016 Nissan Maxima and Murano had been awarded this rating, but just last week, the 2016 Nissan Altima was added to the list.
Like the previous two vehicles, the Altima earned this rating by achieving a score of “Good” in all five of the crash tests performed by the IIHS. In order to clinch the “plus “ rating, the available Forward Emergency Braking system on this model earned a “Superior” rating. A few additional, optional safety features that are available on this model include Blind Spot Warning, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Cruise Control Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Forward Emergency Braking.
“Nissan is very proud to have our best-selling vehicle recognized by IIHS for excellence in vehicle safety,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Strategy and Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA). “Like the new Maxima and Murano, Altima sets high standards in a very competitive class for styling, performance and value as well as safety. We at Nissan are gratified to see that another of our core models has been recognized for excellent design and vehicle safety.”

Over the next four years, the Renault-Nissan Alliance plans to launch ten autonomous vehicles in the U.S., Japan, China, and Europe. The group plans to install new technology in a variety of vehicles at more affordable prices. Additionally, a new suite of connectivity applications will be launched to improve consumer connectivity.
The award-winning Renault-Nissan Alliance is best known for being the leader in zero-emission vehicles. Their sales of all-electric vehicles reached close to 300,000 since December of 2010. Over the years, the group has dedicated time to create zero emissions and zero fatalities vehicles. As such, they have been working on a number of advanced safety features that have led to a significant decrease in injuries and fatalities for drivers and passengers.
“Renault-Nissan Alliance is deeply committed to the twin goals of ‘zero emissions and zero fatalities,'” Renault-Nissan Alliance chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn said at the Renault-Nissan Silicon Valley Research Center. “That’s why we are developing autonomous driving and connectivity for mass-market, mainstream vehicles on three continents.”
The group expects the addition of autonomous drive technologies to eliminate driver error, the leading cause of vehicle accidents. For this year, the group will be debuting vehicles with “single-lane control”, for highway driving and stop-and-go traffic. In 2018, they will introduce “multiple-lane control” which can be used to avoid hazards while changing lanes on the highway. Finally, in 2020, they will be releasing “intersection autonomy” that will allow the vehicle to navigate through heavy urban traffic and busy city intersections.
