Chief executive officer of Nissan Motor Co, Carlos Ghosn, announced the brand’s development of a crossover to be sold across the world, with it initially being introduced in the Latin American markets in 2016. The model draws its inspiration from the Kicks Concept car that was debuted during the 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show, and will keep the Kicks name when it actually hits production.

The Crossover will be produced at Nissan’s Resende Industrial Complex in Rio de Janeiro State after it opened in 2014. Currently, the plant produces the March and Versa. After it begins production of the Kicks, Nissan plans to take on 600 employees and begin a second shift in Resende facility.

“Nissan invented the first crossover in 2003, with the Murano,” said Ghosn. “Since then, we’ve established our global crossover leadership with vehicles like JUKE, Qashqai and X-Trail – which have been great successes. The Kicks will bring Nissan´s unique Crossover expertise to more regions.”

The Kicks crossover is an evolution from the Extrem concept car originally shown off in San Paulo in 2012. Since the show, Nissan has continuously experimented with working Brazilian and Latin American styles and cultures into the vehicle design and development.

The Nissan Frontier is a pickup that has become quite popular amongst Nissan owners who are looking for a larger vehicle that can handle the demands of a full-size pickup but in a more convenient mid-size style. The Frontier has been around for close to two decades now and over the years it has gone through a number of redesigns and upgrades that have created the impressive version that we now have available on the market today. Back in 1998 when this model was first introduced, however, it may have been more simple but it still stood out amongst the pickups available at the time.

MotorWeek recently released a Retro Review episode that features the very first version of the Frontier. Throughout this video you can get a clear look at the body styling, standard features and performance capabilities that could be found within this model 18 years ago. This offers fans a fun throwback and a way to appreciate how far Nissan has brought this vehicle over the years.

See this Retro Review in the video below and head on over to Destination Nissan if you are interested in testing out the 2016 Nissan Frontier.

Happy New Year!

Happy-New-Year-3

The Destination Nissan family would like to take a moment to wish all our customers from Albany, Schenectady, Latham, Saratoga and Clifton Park, NY a Happy New Year. We would also like to thank you for a great 2015. See you next year!

The presents are all unwrapped, the wrappings have been cleaned up relatives have gone back home, and leftovers have officially been eaten. For many people, the only chore left is to start taking down those hundreds of holiday decorations that are spread throughout the inside and outside of the house. This taking down process of course includes the tree and all of its ornaments. Whether you have a real tree or a fake one you can not take the tree apart or put it out on the curb until it has been stripped of all its decorations, a chore that can be long and tedious depending on how many lights and ornaments were used this year.

Nissan has released a new video called “Undecorating the Tree” that offers a quick and easy way to remove those holiday decorations that fans of the GT-R are sure to love. In the video, one GT-R owner simply ties the end of the string of lights to his vehicle and starts driving which causes the lights to unwind itself from the tree making its spin and causing all the ornaments to go flying off. While this method may be perfect for sports car enthusiasts it may not be the most practical unless of course your tree is decorated with all shatterproof ornaments.

Check it out for yourself in the video below.
