The New York State Museum currently has the exhibition The Coast & The Sea: Marine and Maritime Art in America now on display through
February 21, 2016. The Coast & The Sea collection features more than 50 paintings created between the years of 1750 to 1904. The exhibit also features many artifacts from the New York Historical Society’s collection of maritime artifacts. Visitors can learn more about historical events through the art work and artifacts on display.
The New York State Museum is located at 260 Madison Avenue in Albany NY. Admission is free for visitors and donations are accepted upon entry. The museum is closed on Mondays and open 9:30 am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Sunday. A museum gift shop is located on the premises for all your souvenirs. The museum carousel is open from 10am to 4:30pm and operates typically every 15 minutes.
Other exhibits on display at the museum now include The Shakers: America’s Quiet Revolutionaries, Represent: Contemporary Native American Art, and St. Paul’s Chapel: A Place of Refuge. The museum also offers several programs through the year include an open house at an archeological site, family fun day on the third Saturday of the month, and school holiday vacation programs for kids.
