New models: We have new models coming in every week and limited space which means we need to sell 2019 models for the new year models coming in. September, October, November, and December are the months that manufacturers are typically trying to make room for new models on dealer lots. Come December, prices will hit a low for the year. For a buyer, these factors work in your favor to save money. Holiday Shopping: Yeah we know, thinking of buying a car during the most expensive holiday season might sound crazy, but during the holiday season cars continuously lower in price. This is where Black Friday sales have kicked in, as well as low prices in December. Holiday Bonuses: More than half of Americans will receive a monetary end-of-year bonus. With a little extra cash coming in, it might be time to say goodbye to your old ride and hello to a new reliable one. Smooth Commuting: There might be a sense of worry about whether your older vehicle can make it through another tough winter. If you worry about commuting in the winter weather, year after year, it might be time to stop in and get yourself a reliable vehicle that can get you through the weather. Having the upper hand: When traffic is down at a dealership, salespeople can usually take more time to explain in-depth about a car you are interested in, show you similar models, review features, safety concerns and more. You might also have the upper hand due to a lack of customers and win an unbeatable deal! Shop The Nissan Year End Sales Event NOW!

So stash some road trip kits to break out when they’re getting restless Include little goodie bags filled with stickers, coloring books, crayons, or anything you think could keep your little one entertained Stock Up On The Essentials Depending on how long your ride is, be sure to pack snacks, water, medicine, and plastic bags for trash Other crucial items? A full tank of gas, a phone charger, a first aid kit, and a few blankets. Make Sure Your Ride Is Road Trip Ready It’s important that you service your vehicle if it has not yet been Driving in the winter months means you could find yourself running into a mix of weather conditions. Making sure your vehicle is in tip-top shape is crucial to your vehicle’s performance and your safety It’s All About The Journey The holidays are a time to spend with the family but with November and December being so busy you might find that you’re spending less time with them. Instead of bee-lining to your destination, enjoy the journey and maybe stop at some attractions along the way. Create those memories! Let The Kiddos Have Some Screen Time No parent is comfortable letting their kids stare into a screen for hours at a time, but it might be a good idea to let up on the screen time restriction to help keep your ride a little more peaceful. It’s always a good idea to have them play learning games or watch an educational show! Have An Arsenal Of Games Ready To Go No road trip is complete without family car games, so be sure to jot down a list of age-appropriate games before you get going. It’s a good idea to spread them out so that you don’t run out of games too quickly We suggest playing one at the beginning to get them excited for the trip, then once they start getting antsy, and then periodically Having small prizes for the winner is always a fun way to get them into a game Make Sure Your Ride Is Nice And Tidy Before Leaving It’s important that your vehicle is tidy and organized when hitting the road. You want to know where everything is and be able to access it easily as needed Prepare For Toll Booths If you don’t have an EZ-Pass, be sure to have your money prepared for tolls You don’t want to be that person fumbling around at the booth, plus it helps on time to hand over the cash and go Make Plans, But Don’t Worry About Sticking To Them It’s no secret that you’re going to need to stop for bathroom breaks, food, stretch, etc. If you’re planning your trip down to the minute you’ll find yourself stressing for no reason. Stay flexible and don’t stress if you fall behind on time a little bit Schedule Your Service Appointment Now!

Keep The Good Times Rolling With The Penny Test | Albany, NY

It’s no secret that you’ll be hitting the road a lot this summer, and it’s important to emphasize that your tires need to be in tip-top shape. Why you might ask? Well, even if your vehicle is jam-packed with safety technologies, your vehicle will still not be safe if you’re driving without good tires. Your vehicle’s tires are what bring the vehicle to a stop, what keeps you from slipping and sliding, what grips you to the ground,   without good tire tread, you are putting you and your passengers in danger. Before you hit the road this summer, it is important to check our tire tread to make sure it is a proper tread level. So what is good tread thickness? Great question! This week’s blog is dedicated to just that, helping you figure out if your tread level is on point or not! Luckily for you, you can figure that out in just one simple step from the comfort of your home! No really, you don’t need to know anything about cars to check your tires, thanks to the penny test! What’s the penny test? Well, we’re glad you asked! Check it out below! The penny test: Insert a penny right into the tread groove with Lincoln’s head facing upside down in the tread facing toward you. Once the penny is inserted, if you can see the entire head, your tread depth is less than 2/32” and that means you need to replace your tires ASAP. The quarter test: As we did before, place the quarter upside down into the tread groove with Washington’s head facing toward you. If the tread reaches Washington’s head, you have at least 4/32” of tread remaining, AKA you’re tires are still in good shape and there’s nothing to worry about! No coins? No problem! Take a look at your tread wear indicator bar that is molded onto the tread of your tires. These bars are found at the bottom of the tread grooves in multiple spots. When these bars are visibly flush with the adjacent ribs, your tire has no more than 2/32” of tread left. This is a visible indication that you need new tires for your vehicle! You should monitor your tread depth closely once it reaches 4/32 inch deep. If you want to check it yourself, here's how to assess your tread depth: 4/32” or deeper = good 3/32” = replace tire soon 2/32” or fewer = replace tires now Get Your Nissan Tires Here!

Questions To Ask When Buying A New-To-You Nissan | Albany, NY

Buying a vehicle can be stressful, especially if you’ve never done it before. Whether you’re buying a new or pre-owned vehicle, it is important to do your homework before you head to the dealership. They say knowledge is power and that is very true, the more you know about the vehicle you’re interested in the better off you’ll be. But when you’re looking to purchase a pre-owned vehicle it is a good idea to do a little extra homework to make sure the vehicle you are interested in is in good shape. Dealerships will buy used vehicles and fix them up to be like-new, but it is always a good idea to know what skeletons your vehicle has been through before you commit to it. That’s why this week we are helping you out by giving you some helpful questions you should ask before saying yes. Check them out below and if you’re in the market for a like-new ride, Destination Nissan has an impressive line-up of vehicles to choose from and even offers vehicles as new as 2019! Is the car I want on the lot? What’s the point of wasting time and energy negotiating and falling in love with a car to find out the model, or color you want isn’t even on the lot? And even if they can get it from another dealer it won't be immediately, and who says they will honor the price you’ve agreed upon with another dealer. Talk about a heartbreaker! An easy way to avoid this problem is to do a little research. Go to the dealership with a couple of cars in mind, when you get there ask to see those cars, and have them check the inventory before you fall in love! And if they don’t have your dream car, keep your head up. There are lots of fish in the sea. What is the actual cost of the car? Okay, this one is the obvious question but something important to know, there’s a vehicle’s MSRP (manufacturer suggested retail price) and then there is the amount you have to pay to drive that baby off the lot. Depending on the car, the MSRP can be higher or lower. So again, do some research and come informed! You should also expect to pay sales tax, a state licensing fee, and a documentation fee, which dealers charge for filling out the contract. These fees can vary, so here’s where you ask how much your dealer is asking for! What features don’t work the way they’re supposed to? It’s not a bad question when shopping for a used car, I mean come on this baby might have already taken a few trips around the block and it might not be as young as it once was. Most of the time if there is an issue it isn’t a deal breaker and is an easy fix, but it’s better to know everything, rather than know nothing. What is the ownership history? If you ask this question and the dealer doesn’t know much about the vehicle's history this could be a red flag! Don’t be afraid to ask for the vehicle history report or service records. Remember this will be your car, you don’t want to find any surprises after you’ve already signed your name! What is the mileage on my car? This is an important question even when buying new cars. What if the car was the “test drive car” or maybe it was traded from another dealership. If you’re buying a new car and the odometer reads over 300 miles ask for a discount! What are my terms of payment? Deciding whether to lease or buy is only half your battle, you have to then figure out how much you’ll be paying each month. Don’t discuss how much you can pay monthly until you’ve settled on a price of the car. And before you sign a lease, be sure to understand all of the fees and conditions, including what is considered “wear and tear.” Find Your Dream Like-New Nissan Here!

What’s The Difference Between All-Season and Winter Tires?

When it comes to tires there is always the debate on whether you should choose all-season or winter tires. Some people live by all-season, I mean it’s in the name. These tires are supposed to be strong enough to get you through ever-changing weather and all conditions, but do they? On the other hand, there are people who are avid winter tire users. Their argument is that winter tires have deep tread and are specifically made for winter weather, and not to accommodate all weather which might be unrealistic. So, what’s better? Let’s Break it down. There are a lot of different technologies in your vehicle that are made to assist and help your tires perform at the highest quality, but at the end of the day, it’s the tire that makes the difference. So what is the main difference between winter and all-season tires? Well, that is the rubber compound and the design molded onto the tire tread. Why is rubber compound important you might ask? It all has to do with how hard or flexible the rubber tread becomes. In cold weather, regular all-season tread rubber and the rubber used in high-performance summer tires harden at a higher temperature than winter tires. The harder the rubber the less flexible the rubber becomes. You need the rubber to be flexible to grip the road. All-season tires harden around 42 degrees Fahrenheit and once it falls lower these tires begin to lose traction. On the other hand, when the mercury drops, in winter tires, they begin to gain traction. The second most important factor is tread design. Summer tires tend to have solid ribs, separated by wide circumferential grooves. This type of tread is optimal for long tread-life, good fuel efficiency, and quiet rides on smooth roads. Regular all-season tires often have solid tread blocks arranged in a chevron-shaped pattern with wide grooves. These treads are ideal for evacuating water from under the tread, but for traction on ice and snow, tires need a high density of biting edges. You can accomplish this by molding tread narrow slits into the tread features. Similar features found on winter tires. So, do you feel more clear about which tire might be best for you this winter season? If we’re to give you any advice, we suggest purchasing winter tires, especially in upstate New York. If you already have all-season, we suggest keeping those for the springtime and using them all summer times. If you need help replacing your tires, fin new ones, or rotating your tires, please schedule a service with us and we would be happy to help you with all of your tire needs! Pick Up Your Tires Here!
