For the third year in a row, Nissan North America, Inc., has been included on the annual Top 25 Noteworthy Companies list released by DiversityInc Magazine. The Nissan’s brand’s employee resource group growth is what has played a large role in gaining ongoing recognition from DiversityInc.

One of the most successful tactics used by Nissan is their affinity groups. Through this program, Nissan allows employees with shared interests/identities from different parts of the company to work together and create programs that are designed to encourage inclusion in the workplace. Additionally, each year the Nissan Foundation donates 100 percent of their proceeds to provide funding to programs that provide appreciation and education for cultural diversity.

“With the most diverse consumer base of any automotive manufacturer, we understand the importance of authentic engagement with our employees and the communities where we live and work,” said Rebecca Vest, vice president of Corporate Development and Social Responsibility at Nissan. “Members of our 25 employee resource groups work to raise cultural awareness within the company and serve as ambassadors within the community to educate others about the value of diversity.”

DiversityInc selects the companies to be included on this list each year by evaluating all the eligible companies and looking for their year-to-year progress and strength in four key areas. These areas include equitable talent development, CEO/senior leadership development, supplier diversity, and talent pipeline.
