Stop Texting and Driving
Would you ever drive with your eyes closed for the length of a football field? How about with your closest loved ones as passengers? You may be surprised to learn that, even if you answered no, you’ve probably already done this since texting while driving for just five seconds, at a speed of 55 MPH is the equivalent. In the hopes of keeping our Destination Nissan customers safe, we’ve created a list of a few ways to keep your eyes on the road and off your phone.
- Start off by silencing your phone. If you hear a ring or buzz while on the road, you may be tempted to reach for your phone. Remove that temptation all together from the get go.
- Take the next step by putting the phone somewhere that you can’t easily reach. Try the glove box, even lock it if you have to, or in your bag in the back seat.
- Use a designated texter when you have someone in the car with you. You won’t have to go off the grid when you’re in the car if you have someone else responding for you.
- Finally, if you really have to use your phone, pull over. We would prefer you not use the shoulder of the highway since they can be dangerous, but anything is better than texting and driving!

The 2017 Nissan Pathfinder is an incredible stylish SUV that includes a variety of upgrades that we know our customers from Albany, Schenectady, Latham, Saratoga and Clifton Park, NY are going to love. Recently, Nissan decided to highlight the many impressive features and capabilities that this model has to offer through a series of videos that they have released on their official YouTube page. There are a total of six videos that focus specifically on the Pathfinder including an overview video and a quick intro video. Then four shorter videos that feature the Entertainment System, Cargo Versatility, Advanced Safety Technologies, and AVM with Moving Object Detection. The videos are each no more than a minute long and offer a quick overview of each of these vehicles components. We have one of the videos below and be sure to view all of them and then keep an eye out for the release of the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder here at Destination Nissan.
At the beginning of this year, Nissan declared that this would be the “Year of the Truck” and proved it with a whole new set of features and improvements to the Nissan TITAN lineup for the 2017 model year. For starters, the diesel and gasoline-powered TITAN V8 vehicles and all of the gasoline-powered TITAN XD vehicles will be covered by “America’s Best Truck Warranty”*! The coverage will extend to both 4×4 and 4×2 models and in Crew or Single Cab and it includes 5-years/100,000-miles bumper-to-bumper coverage, basic coverage, and powertrain coverage.
“Nissan Commercial Vehicle models have experienced remarkable longevity, with some registering more than 500,000+ miles of relatively wear-free service**,” said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc.. “We think that extending the same coverage to our full-size pickups, whether used for personal or commercial use, is a game changer in the segment.”
In addition to the warranty coverage, Nissan has announced that the new Single Cab configuration will be released sometime this fall and then a new King Cab version will follow sometime after that. Look out for the release of both the 2017 Nissan TITAN & TITAN XD and their official arrival here at Destination Nissan!

A Sports Car in Disguise: The 2016 Nissan Maxima
The 2016 Nissan Maxima might seem like a typical sedan, but it has a number of features that make it feel more like a sports car.
Performance and Power
One component of the Maxima that makes it feel like a sports car is the engine. Beneath its hood, you’ll find a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 261 pound-feet of torque and 300 horsepower, which marks an improvement of 10 horsepower over the outgoing model. It’s a speedy car, going from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds. The 2016 model comes standard with front-wheel drive, powered by a continuously variable transmission. While many sports car enthusiasts aren’t as concerned with fuel economy, the Maxima does come in ahead of its competitors at 25 mpg combined.
Premium Interior
When you climb inside the sedan, you’ll immediately notice the high-end touches that make it feel more luxurious. The driver and passenger seats up front are Nissan’s “Zero Gravity” seats, which boast more support and better comfort than seats in other sedans. The car also features a bin in front of the shifter that includes plenty of space for a larger phone, along with two USB charging ports.
Sporty Trim Level
For the sportiest feel, opt for the SR trim level, which includes a sport-tuned suspension, 19-inch wheels with optional performance tires, premium leather upholstery, LED headlights, heated and ventilated front seats, and Active Ride and Trace Control.
This sleek vehicle gives buyers the option to drive a powerful, performance-based car without having to spend too much.

Whether you want to spin and twirl on a roller coaster or cool down on a water slide, these amusement parks in Upstate New York are great places to have fun.
Seabreeze
Seabreeze Amusement Park is in Rochester and combines two parks on one property. During the summer months, the water park is a favorite destination, with a wave pool, water slides, children’s play area, and lazy river. Next door you’ll find roller coasters, thrill rides, family classics, and kiddie rides that are open from May to September. Whirlwind is one of the favorite roller coasters in the park, giving riders a thrilling experience on a winding track that soars to new heights.
Six Flags Great Escape and Splashwater Kingdom
Located in Queensbury, this park is the favorite for thrill-seekers and families alike. A new coaster opened in 2016 that offers a virtual reality experience that allows riders to feel like they are flying upside down and backwards. Greezed Lightnin’ is another new attraction that includes a seven-story loop that gives a weightless feeling. In September the park hosts Oktoberfest with festive foods, German music and dancing, and refreshing seasonal brews. If you love spooky events, visit the park in October for Fright Fest. You can even participate in a zombie-themed 5K run.
Spending the day at an amusement park is a classic pastime for people across the country. If you’re a New York resident or are planning a visit to the state, spend some time at an amusement park and create memories with loved ones.

3 Things That Make the Nissan Murano a Top-Rated SUV
The 2016 Nissan Murano is a top choice among crossover SUV options. With impressive fuel economy, high-end interior and exterior features, and safety options that provide peace of mind, you might want to take a closer look.
Safety
It earned a spot on the IIHS Top Safety Pick list for 2016. Standard safety features include a rearview camera, antilock brakes, airbags, stability and traction control, active front head restraints, and hill-start assist. If you opt for a higher trim level, you’ll also get rear cross-traffic alert and blind spot monitoring systems and a 360-degree parking camera with moving object detection. Adaptive cruise control and frontal collision warning and mitigation systems are also optional upgrades.
Interior
Within the cabin, you’ll notice the large seven-inch display, which comes standard on all models, along with dual-zone automatic climate control and integration with smartphone apps. The S model adds a Navigation package that includes a larger eight-inch touchscreen. Premium options include leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bose sound system, heated and ventilated seats, and LED lighting.
Fuel Efficiency
For some buyers, poor fuel economy is a major deterrent when considering the purchase of an SUV. But the 2016 Nissan Murano gets an estimated 24 mpg combined, which breaks down to 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. It is quite a bit better than other vehicles that have similar V6 engines.
Test drive a new Nissan Murano today and see for yourself why it’s a top-rated SUV in the crossover market.

2 Mouthwatering BBQ Joints in Albany
Although Kansas City, Memphis, and St. Louis may hold the trophies for barbecue innovation and originality, that doesn’t mean that other places lack mouth-watering barbecue options. Even a far cry away from the south, Albany offers some of the best barbecue in the state, and maybe even the country. If you’re craving some finger-licking good barbecue, visit one of these joints as soon as possible.
1. Capital Q Smokehouse
Located at 329 Ontario Street in downtown Albany, the Capital Q Smokehouse is the local favorite for both taste and atmosphere. When you walk in, you’ll immediately notice that you’re in a converted house that almost feels like you’re at a friend’s place. When you sit down, you won’t want to leave. Using a 75-year-old smoker, Capital Q provides the juiciest and smokiest chicken, pork, and beef you’ve ever eaten. Throw in the maple mashed sweet potatoes or the jalapeño mac n’ cheese for even more heavenly flavors.
2. Dinosaur BBQ
Although Dinosaur BBQ isn’t exclusive to Albany, it does serve up some of the best barbecue in the northeast. Their closest location is in the neighboring town of Troy, New York, just seven miles from downtown Albany. Here, you’ll get your hands on some of their most popular entrées, including jumbo barbecue chicken wings, pork ribs, brisket, or a half-chicken. With sides such as honey hush cornbread, collard greens, or barbecue fried rice, you’re sure to be in for a real treat.
You don’t have to travel west of the Mississippi to get your hands on some great barbecue. Instead, just make the drive to one of these local places and eat till you can eat no more.
