My dog is decidedly my best friend. Nana is an overgrown St. Bernard and she is the love of my life. We do everything together. I mean everything. She loves going for rides in my Nissan Rogue Sport, especially now that we’ve gotten through our good puppy car training. She is calm, cool, and collected and doesn’t assume every drive is a trip to the vet! It’s a blessing. Today I discovered that Nissan has a Nissan Rogue one-off concept vehicle that is currently being tested in Europe called the Nissan Rogue X-Trail 4Dogs! Basically, it transforms your Nissan Rogue into a portable puppy sanctuary!

This awesome concept features a bed, no-spill water bowl, and treat dispenser for pooches who love a little snack. With the slide-out ramp, your pooch can get in and out of the cargo bay, and hooked up to the clip-on harness to keep them safe while the vehicle is moving. If you have a particularly muddy adventure hiking up the trails the fall, an integrated shower and dryer keep your pup and the car clean and fresh for each ride. The leather upholstery was made to be easily cleaned and removed, so even if an accident happens the area is easy to clean out.

The best part of this concept is that there is “dog-cam technology.” Basically, it’s like you and your pup are on FaceTime while you drive so you can keep an eye on your pup through the 7-inch dashboard display and they can see you by way of a 10-inch LCD screen in the cargo area of the vehicle. The system even includes an audio link so passengers can communicate with their furry friends during the drive. How sweet is that! I know that Nana has a touch of separation anxiety, so this technology would probably be helpful to pups like her who don’t like to be far from mom or dad!

Nissan says the area can fit up to 2 dogs, but that probably depends on the size of the animals. Nana would definitely need to be the only pooch in that spot, but my brother’s pugs would probably both fit comfortably back there.  All of the components are easy to remove so you don’t have to worry about a lack of cargo space when your furry friend is at home. In addition, the pet-friendly set up doesn’t affect your access to your spare tire.

I know that Nana and I would REALLY love to try this vehicle out for ourselves, but unfortunately, as of right now, it’s just a concept. There is, however, one part of the concept’s pet-specific features that is actually available for purchase as a Nissan accessory: the dog guard above the rear seats, which could prove to be very helpful for road trips!

Ultimately, if you love traveling with your pooch as much as we do, stop by Destination Nissan today and we’ll help you and your furry friend find the perfect vehicle. For me, the Nissan Rogue Sport is the PERFECT car for me and my pooch, but there are a whole bunch of options to check out. Puppies and Babies may not be included, BUT we want to make sure your puppies and babies are able to enjoy your new car as much as you do!
