Caring for the paint job on your vehicle is important and one of the best ways to keeping your vehicle looking brand new, and who doesn’t want that?! Regular Washing and cleaning, followed by drying, polishing, and waxing, adds a protective coating to your vehicle and provides your paint with extra protection to its exterior! In four easy steps, you can keep your vehicle looking brand new and keep the value of your vehicle higher than it would be without this maintenance.

Step 1: Wash your car

  • You’ll need  a bucket, car wash solution, microfiber towel (or mitt), soft-bristled brush, and a water hose
  • Washing a car on a regular basis helps keep it free of dirt, debris, and gritty residue that can accumulate over time
  • tart washing your car from the roof of the vehicle and work your way down to the bottom of the vehicle
  • Use a soft-bristled brush, in small, circular motions, to remove more stubborn stains and grease. Use a microfiber cloth to clean less dirty areas.

Step 2: Dry your vehicle

  • Rinse your car as you go to prevent the soap and water from drying on your car. The ideal car-washing method is to soap up and wash an area, followed by a quick rinse, before moving on.
  • After drying your car to remove the majority of the moisture, allow it to air dry completely before proceeding to the detailing phase

Part 3: Detail your car

  • You’ll need a clay bar, compound, glaze, microfiber towels, and polish
  • Use a microfiber towel or mitt when working with any detailing compound, glaze, or polish. On the surface of your vehicle, you can still find dirt, even after washing it! A microfiber towel should help it lift dirt away from the surface
  • Don’t forget to clean and shine your tires, which are one of the most overlooked areas of a vehicle.

Part 4: Wax your vehicle:

  • You’ll need car buffer, car wax, polisher, microfiber towels. Paint conditioner
  • Apply wax using a microfiber towel or a clean buffing pad using the car buffer.
  • Proceed with applying the wax a section at a time, allowing the wax to set before removal.
  • Take a microfiber cloth and use circular motions with the buffer to rub in the wax. Repeat this process until you have waxed the entire surface of the vehicle.

Fall is a beautiful season, and New York has some of the most beautiful foliage in the northeast. The changing weather and frequent rainy days can be hard on your car, however, so it’s important to prep your Nissan before the cooler weather hits. Here are two ways you can prep your vehicle for the change in seasons.

Repair Paint

Damage to your car’s paint can pose major issues during the fall. Rain can work its way into any scratches or gouges, leading to rust and even more damage. Paint is vital for keeping the metal of your vehicle from the elements so getting any paint issues fixed before the fall rain sets in.

A good coat of wax can also go a long way toward protecting your Nissan. The barrier between the paint and the external elements can prevent rain and other conditions, such as salt or oil, from eating away at the paint.

Check Tires

Slick streets can be dangerous, especially when combined with sleet or other icy conditions. Your tires need to be in tip-top shape to deal with this change in weather and keep you safe on the road. The treads should be able to grip the road effectively, reducing the chance of slipping or sliding.

You can check the status of your tires’ treads by using the penny trick: insert a penny into your treads with the head facing up. If you can see the whole head, your treads are too low and you need to replace your tires.

These two steps are a great place to start when prepping your Nissan for the fall.

People shop for SUVs for a number of reasons; for instance, growing families need to maximize seating capacity or adventurous spirits want a comfortable, yet capable, vehicle that can handle rough terrain. No matter what your reasons are for looking for a new SUV, the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder is an excellent option. Here are some great features that will give you an excellent excuse to go on your next adventure with the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder.

Sedan-Level Fuel Efficiency

To begin with, the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder’s engine provides an impressive 284 horsepower, which is more than enough for most drivers. What makes this even more impressive, though, is that the Pathfinder’s fuel-efficiency is barely affected by all that power. The Pathfinder offers an estimated 20 mpg in the city and up to 27 mpg on the open road.

Room for Everybody

Almost everybody wants to be able to pack as many people into their SUV as they can. With room for up to seven passengers to fit comfortably in the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder, you’ll have plenty of room to take the entire gang along on your adventures.

Safety Features

With important safety features like air bags throughout the cabin, electronic brake-force distribution, and dynamic vehicle control, you’ll never have to worry about the safety of your passengers in the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder. Perhaps one of the best features in this category, though, is the LATCH (lower anchors and tethers for children) system, which makes mounting child safety seats safer and easier than ever before.

Stop by a local Nissan dealership and take the Pathfinder out for a spin today!

If you’re like me you never fill up your gas tank all the way, but even us half tankers have to fill it up all the way sometime, right? Well, then you know that when you fill up the tank the machine will automatically make a clicking noise when it is full, indicating that your tank is full. But what do we all do? We continue to fill up until it clicks off again to get a little bit more gas. But not so fun fact, that is not actually a good thing to do. While you may be tempted to add a little more gas to your car to round off your dollar sale- even at the risk of overfilling the tank-this is one instance when you shouldn’t go with the flow.

Topping off your gas tank isn’t just bad for the environment, in the case you spill, it is also bad for your wallet. Because the gas nozzle automatically clicks off when your tank is full, topping off can result in you paying for gas that is fed back into the stations’ tank via the pump’s vapor recovery system, which prevents gas vapors from escaping into the air and contributing to air pollution. In fact, topping off might even foul up the mechanism and cause not only a gas-pump failure but also a potential air-pollution problem.

Evaporation from spillage of gas that overflowed from you putting too much gas in your vehicle contributes to bad-ozone depletion and is harmful to breathe in. You also need some wriggle room in your gas tank to allow the gasoline to expand, otherwise, the additional gas could evaporate into your car’s vapor-collection system and damage it, leading to a vehicle that runs poorly and has high gas emissions.

So next time you’re at the pump and you want to add just a little extra gas to that already full tank, do yourself and the environment a favor and don’t! It could save you money and a headache down the road!

The capital of New York State, Albany is a city spilling with history and stories to share. Plan a visit to some of its most popular historical sites to learn more about the city’s role in American history.

New York State Museum

The New York State Museum was established in 1836, making it the largest and oldest state museum in America. It serves as a center of art, science, and history. With the help of scientists and historians, the museum offers research findings and exhibitions in biology, anthropology, geology, paleontology, and history.

The museum holds ongoing exhibitions such as the treasured Cohoes Mastadon and carousel. The Cohoes Mastadon exhibit tells the life, death, and extinction of this unique creature. Visitors can enjoy a free ride on the historical carousel that was built by the Herschell-Spillman Company between 1912 and 1916. In addition to the museum’s ongoing exhibitions, it also offers new exhibitions throughout the year.

The Stephen and Harriot Myers Residence

Stephen and Harriot Myers were the point people in Albany for the Underground Railroad. The Underground Railroad History Project of the Capital Region purchased their home on Livingston Avenue in 2004 and has since worked to bring the house back to what it was in the 1850s. This open-home tour gives visitors a real-life glimpse of this time in America’s history.

Craft breweries are like classic TV shows. Three is company! The more breweries there are in a small vicinity, the more likely it is that a beverage trail isn’t far behind. Much like the wine trails in Connecticut and California, the Capital Beverage Trail curated some of the area’s top adult beverage producers into a trail of its own consisting of breweries, wineries, and distilleries. Here are a few of its top stops.

Artisanal Brew Works

This brewery in Saratoga Springs, New York, has ten amazing beers on tap and doesn’t limit itself to one or two styles. So, if you’re a little more picky about the styles of beer you drink, Artisanal Brew Works is a solid bet. It’s open Tuesday through Sunday and closed on Mondays. Be sure to check out their event calendar for any special releases.

S&S Farm Brewery

This brewery is also an operational hay and beef farm located in Nassau, New York. It’s only open on Fridays and Saturdays for tastings and growler fills. It has a spectacular taproom that was converted from of a historic barn on their property.

Altamont Winery

The Altamont Winery is Albany County’s largest winery. It grows 25 different varieties of grapes on the property and offers vineyard tours and tasting packages. Wine from many of these small wineries are really worth the trip out, so try to make time for it, especially if you enjoy wine.

In total, there are 26 stops on the Capital Craft Beverage Trail. Remember to be responsible by using a designated driver or arranging for a ride when attending tastings or a taproom.
