Every year we have the responsibility of renewing our vehicle’s registration, and some of us might want to pull our hair out when that happens. But I’m here to help make it a little less tedious and more stress-free!

Before your New York State vehicle registration expires, you must renew it with the NY Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Before your registration expires you will receive a renewal notice in the mail telling you when you need to renew by and how to do so. You have several ways to renew your Vehicle’s registration, you can do it by mail, in person, or online,

Before you renew your vehicle’s registration you will need to get a safety inspection and emissions test for your vehicle. These inspections are required every 12 months. Don’t wait too long to get your inspection changed because you could face fines, tickets, and more.

The auto market is currently flooded with crossovers, with many offering almost the same features and design as their competitors. Enter the 2018 Nissan Kicks–with a fresh, innovative design and fun handling, this model is a new breed of crossover. Here’s a quick guide to what makes the 2018 Nissan Kicks so different.

Punchy Design

The Kicks is the replacement for the outgoing Juke and takes inspiration from its predecessor’s unique design sensibility by combining fun, surprising design elements with traditional crossover features. The Kicks is a compact crossover, but don’t let its small stature fool you: it has tons of design sensibility. Buyers can choose between solid and two-tone body paint to complement the Kicks’ bold grille and stylized contours.

Solid Pricepoint

Designed for a range of budgets, the 2018 Nissan Kicks is on the low end of the Nissan SUV price spectrum. The base model is priced at $18,965 MSRP but is still loaded with plenty of standard features to appeal to the modern driver. The highest model comes in around $21,265 MSRP, still well beneath many of its competitors without sacrificing style, technology, or comfort.

Tech-Heavy

As previously mentioned, the Nissan Kicks is loaded with standard features, including active safety tech like automatic braking and forward-collision alert. Even the base model comes with a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and smartphone integration is available on every trim level for added safety and ease of access. An optional Bose sound system creates surround-sound quality music through headrest speaker placement.

These are just three reasons why the 2018 Nissan Kicks stands out from the crowd.

Caring for the paint job on your vehicle is important and one of the best ways to keeping your vehicle looking brand new, and who doesn’t want that?! Regular Washing and cleaning, followed by drying, polishing, and waxing, adds a protective coating to your vehicle and provides your paint with extra protection to its exterior! In four easy steps, you can keep your vehicle looking brand new and keep the value of your vehicle higher than it would be without this maintenance.

Step 1: Wash your car

  • You’ll need  a bucket, car wash solution, microfiber towel (or mitt), soft-bristled brush, and a water hose
  • Washing a car on a regular basis helps keep it free of dirt, debris, and gritty residue that can accumulate over time
  • tart washing your car from the roof of the vehicle and work your way down to the bottom of the vehicle
  • Use a soft-bristled brush, in small, circular motions, to remove more stubborn stains and grease. Use a microfiber cloth to clean less dirty areas.

Step 2: Dry your vehicle

  • Rinse your car as you go to prevent the soap and water from drying on your car. The ideal car-washing method is to soap up and wash an area, followed by a quick rinse, before moving on.
  • After drying your car to remove the majority of the moisture, allow it to air dry completely before proceeding to the detailing phase

Part 3: Detail your car

  • You’ll need a clay bar, compound, glaze, microfiber towels, and polish
  • Use a microfiber towel or mitt when working with any detailing compound, glaze, or polish. On the surface of your vehicle, you can still find dirt, even after washing it! A microfiber towel should help it lift dirt away from the surface
  • Don’t forget to clean and shine your tires, which are one of the most overlooked areas of a vehicle.

Part 4: Wax your vehicle:

  • You’ll need car buffer, car wax, polisher, microfiber towels. Paint conditioner
  • Apply wax using a microfiber towel or a clean buffing pad using the car buffer.
  • Proceed with applying the wax a section at a time, allowing the wax to set before removal.
  • Take a microfiber cloth and use circular motions with the buffer to rub in the wax. Repeat this process until you have waxed the entire surface of the vehicle.

Fall is a beautiful season, and New York has some of the most beautiful foliage in the northeast. The changing weather and frequent rainy days can be hard on your car, however, so it’s important to prep your Nissan before the cooler weather hits. Here are two ways you can prep your vehicle for the change in seasons.

Repair Paint

Damage to your car’s paint can pose major issues during the fall. Rain can work its way into any scratches or gouges, leading to rust and even more damage. Paint is vital for keeping the metal of your vehicle from the elements so getting any paint issues fixed before the fall rain sets in.

A good coat of wax can also go a long way toward protecting your Nissan. The barrier between the paint and the external elements can prevent rain and other conditions, such as salt or oil, from eating away at the paint.

Check Tires

Slick streets can be dangerous, especially when combined with sleet or other icy conditions. Your tires need to be in tip-top shape to deal with this change in weather and keep you safe on the road. The treads should be able to grip the road effectively, reducing the chance of slipping or sliding.

You can check the status of your tires’ treads by using the penny trick: insert a penny into your treads with the head facing up. If you can see the whole head, your treads are too low and you need to replace your tires.

These two steps are a great place to start when prepping your Nissan for the fall.
